Muzz Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) OK, here's a reluctant one, I do like this bass a lot, but I'm so used to passive basses these days I can't get on with actives at all. It's a Warmoth body and neck, probably Ash topped with Warmoth's two-foot-deep-looking flame maple with a blackburst finish and natural masked binding. Neck is maple and rosewood, P-sized nut and matching flamed headstock. Gold Hipshot Ultralight tuners, EMG HZs with a 3-band 18v active EQ with sweepable mids. Like probably lots of us, I'd spent hours idly flicking through Warmoth's website looking at all the options, but I'd never laid hands on any of their stuff until this one came my way, and I'm knocked out by the quality. The finish is fantastic, the flame's lustrous, and the neck joint is airtight - you really have to separate the body and neck with some effort. It's never been gigged, and has only been together a matter of weeks, so there are no dings of note, just a few very small marks which gloss black always shows up. Anyway, here's the first pics, if you need any more let me know. karlfer Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012
Alembic Exploiter thing going on...
Definitely. C'mon peeps, Muzz is a good guy with great gear mand far too close to me. Get this bought before I do something daft (again!).
Billy Apple Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 How much does she weigh, and how's she balance?
rednose200 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 MMMMMM - Nice. I love it. Got nothing to trade though unfortunately. Stunningly beautiful. You had great taste when you produced this.
Bassman Sam Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 That is 'kin' stunning. Good luck with the sale.
tom1946 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) I want an Explorer so badly.... Have done for ages. Don't have the the requisite swap though. Edited November 24, 2012 by tom1946
Muzz Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 (edited) Thanks for the compliments guys, she's definitely a head-turner.
Definitely. C'mon peeps, Muzz is a good guy with great gear mand far too close to me. Get this bought before I do something daft (again!).
Karl, doing daft things is 90% of the fun, mate - I've just bought an 8-string! Balance is great, no issues, the strap button position and Ultralites make all the difference. She weighs 9 1/2 lbs by my kitchen scales. Edited November 24, 2012 by Muzz
Muzz Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 Added lightweight cabs or amps for trade possibilities, too.
xytras 1978 Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 This is looking amazing, just what I'm looking for...... with a Jazz-nut.... sadley. Good luck!!
Muzz Posted November 28, 2012 Author Posted November 28, 2012 Had some interesting offers, but it's still here, so....bump.
TG Flatline Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 That's lovely, good luck with the sale!! If circumstances were different I would have this off you immediately!!!!
karlfer Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Oh come on you young Rock Gods, why is this still here?
Muzz Posted December 2, 2012 Author Posted December 2, 2012 Still more interesting offers - folk on here have some great stuff for trade - but still here...
cocco Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012 Why not put passive pickups in it and change the controls to vol/vol/tone/tone?
Muzz Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 It's just been pointed out to me (Cheers M-Bass-M!) that Warmoth aren't making Explorer bodies any more thanks to a Gibson legal action, so this is one of a now-limited run. Probaby not all that significant, but worth a bump!
Muzz Posted December 21, 2012 Author Posted December 21, 2012 Quick! Treat yourself to some rock 'n roll before the end of the world!
Muzz Posted January 13, 2013 Author Posted January 13, 2013 Right, it's officially very post-Xmas, and I'm skint, so this needs to go...don't make me EBay her, guys...
rushbo Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Not to my taste at all, but I can appreciate how beautifully this has been put together. All you need are a pair of leather trews and a Jack Daniels TShirt and hey presto - instant Rock God! Have a bump and good luck with the sale.
Muzz Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 OK, once-in-a-while bump, just to keep her in the picture...
