If only barefaced did PA subs ...

but alas they don't so ... anyone got any recommendations for small/light PA subs, active or passive ?. Things I've been looking at include the mackie dlm series and the HZ SB18 (which is the smallest/lightest 18 sub I can find).

If you want Barefaced, why not the Baby Sub? That's as much a PA sub as it is a bass cab.

I missed the baby sub ... looks interesting although its giving away a hefty 7db sensitivity compared to the HZ SB18 albeit a lot more compact an lighter.

Have you thought of going down the DIY route? Bill's T39s are well worth a look and build. Martin quality at Behringer prices.

Hi alex ... do I get a discount for being the Guinea pig . Am thinking of experimenting with my compact as a dedicated sub - or is that a really dumb thing to do - will putting a kick drum though it rip its guts out ?.

I want something that is lighter than 20kg and no bigger than a compact ideally ...

Fohhn have a single 12 sub that weighs in at 19kg. And its active so no heavy amp rack. Theyre major money though.
