paul_5 Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 OK, so we've got a thread about the last bassline you learned, but I'm curious as to what is the best one you've learned? I realise that this has the potential to be a contentious issue, after all, someone's 'best' will inevitably be someone's 'worst' etc..., but it's a purely personal choice. Mine's probably 'Freewill' by Rush. Quote

the_skezz Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Rush's Distant Early Warning. Works brilliantly and it's the one bassline I never get tired of playing, so an all-round winner in my book. Quote
Judo Chop Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Ooh, either 'Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick' or 'Rain' by the Beatles because I felt I'd made some real progress after nailing them Quote
Hobbayne Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 The Seeker by The Who. A great line and certainly one of Entwistles best. Quote
pobrien_ie Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Not sure if it's the best or just my favourite, but it'd have to be 'I Was Made to Love Her' by Stevie Wonder with Jamerson (or was it Carol Kaye!!) on bass. Quote
GreeneKing Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012
The Seeker by The Who. A great line and certainly one of Entwistles best.
That's the last one I've learned. Good but I've had even better. Heard it through the Grapevine perhaps? Quote
Graham Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 Pigs, Three Different Ones by Pink Floyd; I never really rated Roger Waters as a bassist - great song writer but nothing special on bass - but this track is a wonderful baseline to play Quote

Deep Thought Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Probably either Rhythm Stick or Nice'n'Sleazy by the Stranglers, which I have been playing for 20-odd years, but only now do I feel I'm getting on top of it! Quote
Leen2112 Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Mine is "Force 10" by Rush on Hold your fire, pretty much all the bass on that album are great to play, not too hard for Geddy but fun to play. Quote
TheGreek Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 "Breezin" by George Benson - interesting construction and way round the scale.. Quote
thumperbob 2002 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Everyday People by Sly and the family stone. One note. Quote
