stoker
Found an Od/fuzz sound I like if anyone has any ideas. Like the sound Rob Turner of the B.R.M.C gets. Anyone know what he uses effects wise? Edited December 16, 2012 by stoker

http://brmcdownhere.com/Gear.php Looks like valvey overdriven Ampegs, combination of various overdrive pedals (mostly guitar ones, not bass specific) including a Boss Metal Zone, Ibanez Tubescreamer and EHX Tube Zipper, Boss/Akai delay pedals and a few other miscellaneous bits. stoker
Looks like an EHX Od might be the way to go then from what I could glean from those links.
stoker
I am liking the sound of the EHX Bass Blogger too.
mike257
Well, he's got at least three different OD pedals in there which (according to the threads) will get get stacked in various combinations. A good dirty valve Ampeg sound would be the starting point really - if your current rig doesn't do that then maybe a Tech21 VT Bass would be a good place to start from, and then build on that with the OD pedals. stoker
Thanks, I'll do some experimenting.

stoker
After checking out many reviews and sound samples I am feeling very tempted by the EHX Bass Blogger.
stoker
Right, I know what else I'm sticking on my pedal board! Gonna get a reverb and an octaver.
johnDeereJack
As far as octave pedals go I can recommend an old Boss OC-2 or the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe. I had the OC-2 way back years ago and currently have the MXR. The OC-2 is a bit tempramental in it's tracking but nonetheless both great pedals The come up in the For Sale section on occasion so keep your eyes peeled. bassninja
A lot of Behringer stuff has quality issues so I'd stay away from most of it. Having said that a lot of guys here love the sound of this, http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/BDI21.aspx
+1 There's quite a bit of sniffiness about Behringer, but on a £50 budget they're worth a look. Used on fleabay is a good option if you want to try stuff out. You'll find better build & audio quality elsewhere, but probably not at £50ish. stoker
Behringer stuff seems to go quite quickly in the market place too.
Musky
Oh if I could afford and Ampeg. Would love one one day but for the moment I'm more than happy with my Trace.
You shouldn't rule out a Sansamp BDDI for an Ampeg type sound, or the VT Bass for the addition of a useful mid control. The Behringer BDI21 is a clone of the BDDI that many people on here use (including myself) that as has already been pointed out is dirt cheap. Reliability of these doesn't seem to be an issue. There's a thread on talkbass somewhere with soundclips comparing the BDDI and BDI21. Very few people could correctly identify the pedals from the clips. stoker
He seems to have all the pedals blacked out which is very annoying.
stoker
Any reverb suggestions?
Sibob
The Marshall Reflector is great, and often cheap. The TC Hall Of Fame gets a lot of love. The Earthquaker Devices Dispatch Master is a great Delay/Reverb combo pedal, each can be used individually too. Si
dudewheresmybass
Don't discount the shimverb either Having said that- love my reflector!
stoker
I do like the look of the Line6 Tone Core Verbzilla but it is slightly out of my price range. Edited February 26, 2013 by stoker
stoker
On the octaver front I've been hearing murmurings about the Chord OC-50. Figured for £40 odd it could be worth a look. Anyone had any experience with it? Edited February 24, 2013 by stoker
xgsjx
For an extra £5-£15 you could get a s/h Boss OC2 or OC3.
stoker
True. Have heard the Chord does a good OC-2 impression.
JapanAxe
<2p> Save your money and buy some new strings - that will do more for your sound than any fx pedal. </2p>
xgsjx
That's if you like the sound of new strings. It's 2 year old strings for me.
stoker
Wouldn't make any difference. I use flats, sound the same now as when I put them on last summer.
