Do you think this is a genuine 1978 Fender Precision?

I would expect wear and tear like this;

Note the darkening in the headstock lacquer.

If everything is original as it states, shouldn't it have screw holes in the scratchplate for a thumb rest and pickup cover? Don't quote me on that, there's a lot of better people on here who could help out!

The photos are bad, but I'm struggling to see holes for the pickup cover and thumb rest. The knobs look to be dome headed, shouldn't original knobs be flat on top*? Obviously the strap locks are not originals. Also, 9lb 7oz? that's half the weight of a real 78 :-)

*based on the fact that they are flat on my 78P

Edit, sorry, just noticed I'm echoing what Wooks said

He bought it from the states in September, can't get the link to work, but there are better pics, and it came with those tuners

Edit, trying link again

Hmmmm...An an owner of a 1978 Fender Precision ( which I bought in 1979), I would expect to see a darker patina to the headstock,flat topped controls and screw holes in the scratchplate for the thumb rest and ashtray,although it does have the holes in the body by the bridge.It's just too clean to convince me,and if it had a cosetted life it should still show more nitrocellulose darkening than this,and why Wilkinson tuners?
I wouldn't buy it.

In short - no. My '79 P bass had no such holes.

Not so sure about that! My 78 did have.
I know the old scratch guards were prone to breaking by the input -jack after sometime and a lot were changed because of this.

My '79 P bass has...

with this one we are talking about, surely if it has the holes for the bridge cover (which it does) it should have holes for the pick up cover.
