Elvis Valentine
OK this might not be the best place for this question so sorry in advance. i think it is though. If i were to buy an unregistered copy of pro tools 10 student from someone (not a dealer an actual person). As in a legit copy not a fake just never been registered or used would i be able to register it? I am a student myself. Would it just be a case of registering it with avid and authenticating my studentness or would this just not work? I know you can transfer a license for about 20 bucks but i guess not the academic version. Thanks all y'all.
paul_5
Yes, you'd be able to register it as your copy. AFAIK it's the dealer's responsibility to check your entitlement to academic versions. I bought mine from my local independent music shop (it's the way forwards, folks) and he knew that I taught music, so that was good enough for him. When I registered it online I don't remember even being asked whether I was a stoodent or not. Hope this helps.

paul_5
Make sure you get a USB iLok key with it too, you'll need that to authorise it.
