3below Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I have no problem, they can both play guitar in my band, they seem pretty proficient. How do I contact them? Quote
Clarky Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Jimmy. This http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89yw7wqoaio Quote
Dad3353 Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 They'll have to fight it out, blow by blow (if that helps...). Quote
Doddy Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Jeff Beck. I've always thought that Page was often quite sloppy (Plus,I'm not a fan of Zeppelin). Quote
Clarky Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Astonishing stuff (from about 50 secs) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okFYLCQtim0 Quote
steve-soar Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012
Jimmy. This
Oh, good grief, I'd forgotten about this. Quote
leroydiamond Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Both great guitarists but its gotta be Page. He gas written the most memorable riffs in the history of Rock. pure genius. Quote
ezbass Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 From a playing perspective JB, from a compositional and arrangement perspective JP. Quote
Big_Stu Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012
I can't decide. Jimmy Page, orJeff beck.
Audition them both & see which ones offers to buy his round in at the pub after ....... easy choice after that. Quote
LemonCello Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Just for the outrageous kecks he used to wear (Song Remains the Same) - the title goes to the one and only Jimmy Page! Quote
Mykesbass Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Neither of them would win the X Factor just proving that music should never be a competition. (very minor rant over) Quote
Hobbayne Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Ah, but who replaced who in The Yardbirds?? Quote
peteb Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Depends on how you look at it - Beck purely as a guitar player but Page for producing the best music! Quote
hollywoodrox Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Tricky they are both Icons. Jimmy has made a huge mark in popular music I would have to pick jeff , if its difficult I think who would I like to be? And it would be cool to be beck He shreds like mad, is a great fusion player, is in great shape has great hair and plays awesome guitars Has just played onstage with the worlds greatest rock n roll band and was in the yardbirds He is the ultimate rock star. Quote
hollywoodrox Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Blackmore and yngwie own them both tho........... Quote
chris_b Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012
....Ah, but who replaced who in The Yardbirds??....
Well, they were both playing with the Yardbirds at the Crawdaddy club when I saw them. Quote
Pete Academy Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Beck all the way. Page is definitely sloppy and a bit of a widdler. I wish I'd written Kashmir, though. Quote
philparker Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 You don't have to decide, they're both icons of British rock and what one of them does slightly better than the other, shouldn't relegate the other! Having said that I would say that JB is technically the better guitar player and JP had the better presence with genius compositional skills. Quote
Bassman Steve Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Jeff Beck for his absolute mastery of the guitar. I'm afraid Jimmy Page leaves me completely cold. Quote
paul torch Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Think they are both important but for me it has to be Jeff Beck for keeping his guitar playing moving forward. Star Cycle blew me away when I first heard it. Quote
Joker2807 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012
From a playing perspective JB, from a compositional and arrangement perspective JP.
what he said ... Quote
seashell Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Some of you don't seem to understand that Jimmy Page is God. Or was that Eric Clapton? Quote
Seb_C Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012
Some of you don't seem to understand that Jimmy Page is God. Or was that Eric Clapton?
Clapton! But Page over Beck for me. Quote
