MarkG3 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 That's pretty interesting, shame there isn't any pictures with their page for visual proof Quote
dudewheresmybass Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Maybe the price of old DBS 7400s will drop now? Quote
EBS_freak Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Quite surprised by that... mind you, given the amount of effects he uses, it doesn't really make a difference what he goes through. Quote
chrismuzz Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 After a bit of digging.. “We used a clean DI, a Reddi DI, and a clean bass sound using a Markbass head, with 4x10 and 1x15 cabs. And an old Marshall 80s bass head, panned left to right—one side has an Animato pedal, on the other side, a Big Muff. That is Chris [Wolstenholme]’s sound. Between songs, we’d change pedals out, and send another pedal thru DI, or a digital-sounding amp with a close and bright sound." http://www.emusician.com/artists/0767/muse/149550 And on his twitter @_Storage_ Used to use Marshall DBS but have recently switched to Markbass http://twitter.com/CTWolstenholme/status/244094978408726529 Quote
Lozz196 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Nice one, always nice to see a pro chosse Markbass. Interesting that he only uses 15s live. Quote
danhkr Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Good coup for them I reckon. Their endorsees tend to be more 'session-related' bassist types, so no doubt this will give them more commercial appeal. Also heard from a few sources that they don't give anything away, so if you see an artist using Markbass on stage, apparently they've paid for the privilege. Quote
chrismuzz Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 I asked Peter Murray if Chris is now an endorsing artist and he said this: "No, he is not choosing to endorse officially, but they agreed to let us share this information publicly. He's a great bass player and it's a real honour that he's been using Markbass gear." Quote
danhkr Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Definitely sounds like he's specifically chosen it off his own back then and not just been approached by the company. It's surprising how many 'pro's' will use whatever gear their agents/labels get for them. Quote
Musicman20 Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 At his level he has enough money and time to have whatever he wants. I'm surprised at 4 x 15 though? As pointed out...it makes no different really as his tone is satured in effects. Quote
far0n Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Wasn't the SD1200 discontinued a while back ? He must have bought them second hand Quote
Wolverinebass Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012
Wasn't the SD1200 discontinued a while back ? He must have bought them second hand
It still appears to be on their website as being under "special heads." So, not discontinued. Quote
lushuk Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012
He must have bought them second hand
We are not amused! Quote
chrismuzz Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012
Is any of it miced?
Apparently they were very specific in their cab choices for studio use, so I would imagine so. Quote
