basslondon Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) This came my way as part of swapsie scenario so it doesnt owe me the world moneywise .... dont know too much about it other than they were very dear when new but enjoy a bit of a cult following which reflects in their current bargain basement value. It has an active circuit including piezo pickups as well as the big main one. Has a Luthite body which seems to stand up to the knocks much better than the paintworks ability to not crack (see final two pictures). Great for those who are 5 curiuous and dont wanna spend a fortune the sound with new strings places it firmly in the "Modern" territory. Pics when i can find out how to upload them, as my usual method's not having a bar of it. CRAIG Edited December 8, 2012 by basslondon

ashevans09 Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 I've always heard these were brilliant. Why were they discontinued?
basslondon Posted December 4, 2012 Author Posted December 4, 2012 Who knows why they were discontinued. Its got a very much love/hate look about it, Techincally its a wonderful marraige of ideas, theres no neck dive at all i reckon its about 7-8 pounds in weight which for a five string is exceptional and the piezo's give it an edge. If it wasnt for the fact that i have an almost identical technolgy in my Musicman Stingray 5 (piezo version) i wouldnt even think of selling it. comes with a well used padded gigbag. I think if it was purple it would be the kind of bass PRINCE would play.
alyctes Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I think the luthite put a lot of people off; many bass players are quite conservative in their tastes, and I know from personal experience that the stuff has a slightly odd smell. You have a PM, btw.
doki Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 very good deal for a top of the line model! i remember those were pretty good (if you like the affirma design) - i liked the design of the low budget ones better, but playability and sound are much better on this one...
White Cloud Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 I have always had a secret crush on these basses. This is a lot of instrument for the cash. If I didnt have Xmas emptying my wallet I would have it!
