bubinga5
was listening to this album by David Sanborn.. called straight to the heart.. i just love his sax playing, but the intro is beautifully played by Miller. you rarely get to hear him play fingerstyle, but when he does its magic imo.... then you get to his slap playing.. imo its some of the best slap playing ive ever heard.... his solo slap at 2.40 on this track is just off the wall good... imo http://www.youtube.c...&v=gaIe7fknRR0#! Doddy
Great track.Great album.Great playing. I also really like Sanborn's album 'Inside'. It's a lot smoother than 'Straight to the Heart',but it's really good. Marcus is all over it,and not just on bass. Marcus does a lot of fingerstyle playing-obviously he's know for his thumping, but there is a lot of fingerstyle playing in his discography. lowdown
The quality seems to be not so good on this, but if you can get a copy of this there is some great playing all round. I only have a VHS, not sure there is a DVD out there [might be] Sanborn seems to get a terrible panning in this country, I have seen him a few times [once with MM at Wembley] And him and his band have always been right on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKNjKBszLA8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC5s88Tvmxc&playnext=1&list=AL94UKMTqg-9DTKAfZ3jbTSN62KdKQViC0 Garry
Angel
My fave Sanborn record is 'as we speak'. Once again, great playing from Miller throughout.

The album is called "Diminutive Mysteries". Sanborn is no slouch !! leschirons
Seen David Sanborn a couple of times with MM now and it's always been a great gig. I think he gets pushed into the Kenny G bracket by the uninitiated. He's a seriously cool player. Seem to remember it's him on James Taylor's How sweet it is. Great solo but I stand to be corrected if I'm wrong. Every time I've seen MM he wouldn't get out of the gig alive if he didn't play Run for cover. That intro (or whole number) has probably been learned by 50% of the players on here.

Sanborn's sublime solo starts at the 03.17 mark, though the whole song is worth a listen. I would guess that Kenny G's bank manager reckons he's pointing his talent in exactly the right direction.
