Doddy
I've already got a load of pedals, but I've been working away a lot lately and it's a pain in the arse to fly with my board and taking 4 or 5 individual pedals take up too much room in my suitcase,so I've been looking at getting a Line 6 M5 that would cover the effects that I need (and more) in a handy package. I know it's only one effect at a time, but I'm not fussed about that-it's all I really need, and the price is right. What's everyones opinions on the pedal? Is it any good and worth getting? xgsjx
I think it depends what pedals you're looking to replace? Chorus, delay, filter & some other's are quite good. Dirt, not so good (though not terrible).
EskimoBassist
For an all in one solution, the B3 might be a better fit. I love my M9 for all its time based, pitch and modulation effects, but dirt definitely isn't its strong point.
chrismuzz
I don't think it's out yet, but the Zoom MS50B looks great and you can have 6 effects at once!
Doddy
I don't think it's out yet, but the Zoom MS50B looks great and you can have 6 effects at once!
Unless it's out in the next couple of weeks it's not really an option-althogh it does look very cool. I've got to be honest,I've had a look at the Zoom B3 but I've never really been into Zoom's effects, but I've had success with Line 6 before (I've used the Bass Pod many times)
GarethFlatlands
Love my M5 on guitar, not so sure about bass. The chorus was a little muddy and neither the compressors or distortion were amazing. A few of the more extreme effects (the synthy ones) seem to have been very much voiced with guitar in mind too. I have to admit to not spending a huge amount of time with it on bass and will stand corrected if there are some amazing sounds that I've missed. thisnameistaken
The filters are pretty useless because there's no sensitivity adjustment and/or many of them (the decent-for-bass ones) have a big level boost and no output volume control. They are just totally impractical to use live, IMO. I use my M9 for stuff like pitch shifting, modulation (there's at least one good-souding type of each modulation effect), delays and reverbs, the tube comp sounds pretty good too and the octave works well although it sounds a bit anonymous, the attack synth patch also gets a lot of use. But as a do-it-all unit it falls down hardest on the crappy implementation of the filters.
