bluesparky Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Jamiroquai came up in a conversation today and it eventually wangled it's way onto the Space Cowboy track. Did anyone ever eventually officially announce / declare who Mr X is? Edited December 10, 2012 by bluesparky Quote
Doddy Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) There's been no official announcement, but apparently it was Dutch bass player Joeri Hommerson. Edited December 10, 2012 by Doddy Quote
risingson Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012
There's been no official announcement, but apparently it was Dutch bass player Joeri Hommerson.
This was only speculation and the guy you mention has been shown to be fairly lax with his use of the truth. No one knows apart from the band and the guy that played. Stuart Zender got really annoyed that Jay got a new bassist in whilst he was taking a brief break from the band to deal with some domestic issues. Jay said he was arrogant to deal with, although that's pretty much the pot calling the kettle black. Quote
Killerfridge Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 I thought it was generally considered to be Randy Hope-Taylor or Andrew Levvy? Either way, I doubt we will ever find out the truth. Quote
It's not RHT, he's denied it and the way Mr X has been described by Jay Kay and Zender wouldn't suggest that he was a particularly nice person to work with. Seeing as Randy has since recorded a lot with Jamiroquai and I've heard he's incredibly nice, I would presume it wasn't him although I used to. Sounds to busy to be Levy to me. Quote
pietruszka Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Jay Kay said someone was arrogant to deal with?! That's a laugh whenever there was one! Any one seen the video of Jay getting nutted by a journalist? Couldn't have happened to a more deserving man. Don't get me wrong, I like Jamiroquai but I find Jay to be an insufferable tool. Not my intention to rebuff so badly, my original guess was RHT too but I've seen a lot of speculation on the subject of who played and I think that the only people who know are the people in the studio that day. That Joeri Hommerson sounds nothing short of a bit mad, he claims to have played with Jamiroquai back in 1989, three years before the band even existed. Quote
