Dunlop Tortex Triangles, 1.0mm (Blue). I find them durable and just the right thickness, been using them for years. I kind of prefer them when they're slight worn instead of new too.

I would love to have a crack at making my own 3mm Big Stubby out of aluminium. Just need to get some aluminium the right thickness. I have a feeling that if I could get the shape and size bang on, they would be my ideal pick.

One of my picks I made out of a steel washer. It actually sounds really smooth because I spent a long time getting the edge just right, don't want to go chopping my strings up. It has the hole in the right place to hold, which makes to really easy to hold. Unfortunately, at 1mm, it's a bit too thin for my tastes.

When I first started playing with a pick my very favourite one was a black Dunlop that I had stuck a rubber disc to, which had been the foot to a TV.

+1 for the Dunlop Jazz III picks. Used to use the tortex ones as well myself (purple ones, not sure of the thickness) and they were good but once I tried the Max Grip Jazz IIIs, I never looked back. It feels like you have so much more control and I haven't had one slip out of my hand yet.

Are these the same size as the standard Jazz 3's? If they are I might buy a few packs! (Read: About 10...)

Jim Dunlop nylon 1mm for me too, tried all sorts but keep coming back to them. Never seem to be available in anything other than black, though I've never looked online. Black ones seem to disappear into a void whenever I drop them onstage.

Yeah, they're just the same size. Best picks I've used anyway!

I have used Dunlop 1mm nylon picks for years.

However I was at the Mansons guitar show and bagged these for free from the Ernie Ball stand, they came with a pick tin and they are great. So I've just ordered a big bag of these!

The last ones I tried where the 1mm blue Dunlop Tortex which were ok but just not doing it for me...
I also got the Jim Dunlop 1mm big stubby, this was probably the worst out of the lot! Just couldn't get a good grip on it, that small patch that looks grippy on them is just as shiny as the rest of it, I'd give these a miss!
My favourite out of the last batch though was the Jim Dunlop Nylon 1.14mm Standard Max Grip. The grip was brilliant but as it was nylon the sound was a bit too soft for me, I would recommend them to anyone who likes playing with a pick and wants the sound of fingered playing!

Hopefully my new carbon fibre ones on order will give me what I'm looking for! I honestly never thought I'd put this much thought into a pick...

For over 15 years I used the Dunlop, Lexan (material) 3mm Stubbies. I recently switched to the new Nylon 3mm Stubbies. They don't wear as quick and they are easier to hold. I use the for both Bass and Guitar, the shape of the tip makes them massively versatile.
After a recent thread I covered one of my old Lexan Stubbies with thin, dense felt and it sounds amazing.
I do have a ton of different thickness picks made from different materials, including steel, and I do use them, but I mostly use the Stubbies.

Keep your nails to the right length and with a change of attack angle you can go from a finger sound to a pick sound (but with balls!).
[/quote]

... and here was I thinking it was wrong of me to do that.
Not that I really manage it or anything, but I like the sound.

best,
bert

Arrived today, looking forward to trying them out. Hopefully they'll last me a bit longer than the other ones...
