Orange bass Terror tubes

Hey

I have an orange bass terror 500 and I'm thinking about changing the tubes to make it sound better as the ones that are in it are cheap Chinese 12AX7 tubes.

I know next to nothing about tubes, so with that in mind does anyone know anything about bass amp tubes?? what ones I should get?.

Any comments are welcome as again i know 0 about tubes.

Whilst not directly answering your question, there is a thread on here about how to change the tubes on these and there is some interesting examples of what people have used.

Just for info I have spoken to an engineer at orange technical. Hr tells me that orange now use jj tubes in their amps and the DI issue has been resolved.
Took the top off mine yesterday and there were a pair of jj tubes installed.
My amp is dated may 12

I doubt it but even if it doesn't it will impact the tone and gain.
I have just fitted a pair of JJ premium tested ecc83s tubes from hotrox and they are an improvement over the jj tubes that orange fitted.
They are smoother and the valve overdrive seems more musical to my ear.

That's great that they sorted the DI.

The USA guys seem to love this amp, and pay a lot for it! I have the 200b and I'm always tempted by one.

Yeah they were really helpful in my decision making, I would have loved a 200 but I think the weight would have been too much, this seemed like the best compromise.
Paired with my Baer Ml112 cabs it sounds savage!
