Where did all the gigs go?

I've just wandered back into doing the covers/pubs/funcs thing after 4 years out and...woah, I know the economy was on a downer (last I was around the 'smoking ban' was the BIG worry) but hellfire, it's a drought out there.

Good luck if you are still doing it, Im changing a set of strings as we speak...

I feel your frustration. Sometimes i played in pubs where initially there were a fair few people. Then, the smokers go into the beer garden...
I dont know if i do get in another band, if its gonnabe worth the hassle. 2 +years have passed since my last gig.

I left the originals gig in june/july...I cant for sh*t remember, but anyway, tried getting somthing simple up and running and the financial outlay was..frankly nuts... and the £££ that was out there... isnt any more.

I wont let it bum me out, lifes too short, but hey, optimism rules, and I know I'll find summat

We must be lucky. Our originals band are getting enough gigs. At the moment, one in three carefully targeted emails is getting a positive response from venues. We're even starting to get paid half decent money :-)
