x_Morning_Star_x
Hi all, i recently purchased a Gallien Krueger 2001RB, i'm currently using a couple of cheapy behringer cabs and would like to upgrade, i have a 1x15 and a 4x10, the 4x10 is supposed to be 1000w but i'm not so sure as ive recently got a bit of a crackle in one of the cones since using this new head. Anyways i would just like to hear what your opinions on cabs are and experiences etc etc :-D
Lozz196
I`ve not had the same GK amp as you, but had a couple of the GK MB range, and the cab I found that I liked best with them was the Peavey TVX410. Weighs a ton, and as big as a small country, but cheap, reliable, and great sound.
JTUK
2 GK 210's or 1x210 and 1x15.
Noisyjon
I would go for something like a Barefaced Big Twin for that amp. Depends whether you want a mid driver and/or a tweeter for higher frequency extension. If not from my experience I would go for 2 x Compacts as they can really pump it out LOL! Good luck. hamfist
I thoroughly recommend the GK neo line. I have the 2x12, and it is superb. Light and not too pricey either. Depending on your volume needs you could get one or two of these. Also gives you the option of using the GK bi-amping as it was meant
Jack
A big one, those are powerful heads. 2 of the 2x12 neos sounds good.
0175westwood29
the 212 neo cabs do sound nice i played my headlite with one of the 4 ohm cabs and it was loud!
ThomBassmonkey
It depends what sound you're after. I have a 2001RB-II and it sounds great with either my 410RBHs or my NEO212s. If you get a cab that can handle low ends well, you'll be sorted with that set-up for any kind of music IMO. Obviously, price, weight etc are possibly all factors. [/quote] Yes, the neo 212's are VERY sensitive (in terms of dB out per W in)
jaydentaku
An ideal pairing would be a 410 and or a 115 from the GK RBH bi-amp range.
JTUK
Not sure about that...as that is 540 into 2 ohms..?? so say something under 400 into 4..which is what each cab would have to be.?? I am sure you would get quite a sound out of it..but all that messing around for 400 odd watts....??? And depending the amps x-over capability..?? what do yopu really achieve..? Best to hook up the bridged version if running both cabs..??
Delberthot
I have the 1001RB II and two Ashdown ABM410s but only ever need one. Absolutely love the sound. Very dirty when I dig in and cuts through like an extremely cutty thingy. You can pick them up for less than £200 second hand and I believe you could run 4 of these if you happen to playing the O2

Truckstop
+1 on Ashdown ABM cabs. I used to have a 400RB and an Ashdown ABM410 and it shifted some serious air. Pretty heavy but I would happily deal with the weight to get that tone again. It sounded really dense and powerful; don't get me wrong I love my MB210, but I feel that lightweight bass gear lacks a certain strength to it. If ever need a big rig again, I'll go for an RB rig.
