hamfist
OK, I did a redo of the demo video this morning. But I chose to go straight into the pre-amp in my mixing desk, instead of via my bass amp. I'm not sure the 55-02 is a great match to my bass pre-amp, and going straight into a flat hifi (ish) desk pre-amp probably gives the "purest" tones I guess. Anyway is this a better video ? It's shorter also. I chose one riff, which demos all 5 strings, and chose only 5 different pickup configurations, so the whole thing is much quicker for folks to hear the whole array of tones. Anyway the new one is ..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9S1vkTTNFs&feature=youtu.be For reference, the old one is ... Dingus
Sounds great to me . These Skylines sound just as good as the handmade USA Laklands . Looks good in natural ash too.

Smythe
I'd love to get a 55-02. I have a 44-02 in the same finish and its the best bass I've ever played, I'll never part with it. Ive played the 55-01 and loved how playable it was for a five string which was alien to me at the time I nearly bought it but i went away without buying the bass to have a think about it, returned to the shop the week after to buy it and it had sold . i ended up buying a Yamaha TRB1005J which is as playable , not as good electronics and double the price nearly... JTUK
In the context that you have presented the demos... I prefer the re-done tones as solo'd The Live soundman might prefer to work with some of the tones of the earlier demo tho... All in the context.. I work from good tones that complement my style...and I concentrate of delivering a good enough sound..again, IMO..that the engr doesn't have to chase sounds. This works because getting the sound is quick..and it is not too far removed from what I want as it is all there anyway.
