spongebob
After a lengthy gig last night, I've decided to upgrade my leather Gibson strap. It's just the basic unpadded leather variety - solid, narrow, and not forgiving...never really thought about changing until my shoulder has recently started to crack fairly often! Should have done this years ago. Just finished a check on BC, and looks like the strap field has moved on a lot - they look like machine gun belts or something Rambo would be proud of! Quite taken with the good views of the Mono GS1 - but looking for advice on the size. Just measured my current strap and I'm wearing it at 48cm....which I assume would be a large mono at the shortest setting? Only ask as I'm on the cusp of a long strap short, or a short strap at the longest....if that makes any sense? Buying blind off the net, so I'm thinking that the large would be the size to go for? Will order once I find out ASAP!
Jellyfish
http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mono_STRAPPS.html Mark provides the details here. Only linked it because I've been looking myself for a non-leather alternative that goes below 43". Only worry is that the GS1 is only 3 1/4" wide, whereas I'm used to a Neotech Neoprene strap that is 4" wide.
molan
I got mine from Phil at Bassgear http://www.bassgear.co.uk/accessories/cables/ I'll get my tape measure out and check it for you soon (lying bed at the moment, lol)
molan
I'm guessing you mean 48 inches and not cm? I've checked my strap and it's at 47 inches with about an inch to spare to the shortest position. If you're 48 inches then I'd go for the long strap and wear it short (if that makes sense!). spongebob
Thanks all! Just ordered a long smoke ultra suede from Bassdirect. Thought I'd push for the extra (£6!) to get the top of the range! Looks like a lovely strap - and better for the shoulder..!
spongebob
Got it today - superb piece of kit. Great service/delivery from Mark at Bassdirect as well!
fretmeister
Lovely straps indeed. I got one a couple of weeks ago. Now I feel I need one for each bass!
gafbass02
I've a couple of black ones on my basses. Very nice indeed might get an ultra suede in 2013. Edited December 28, 2012 by gafbass02
Jellyfish
Received mine yesterday and wow, what a lovely strap. Feels unbreakable and although I'm used to a 4" width, the near 3" width feels perfect with my 5 string (and fairly lightweight) Ibanez. The reduced length was the main reason for the purchase though and I couldn't be happier. It also looks wicked.
