For sale, an Audere JZ3 VB 3B pre-amp for standard Jazz bass routing. Came in a bass I bought, but I prefer it’s passive tones to be honest. Maybe I’m a bit old school, but a Jazz should be passive for me. I don’t like fiddling with tone on a bass, finding I'm preferring a set-it-and-forget-it type of approach.
Anyway, this has Vol, blend/mids & bass/treble. The “/” indicates a stacked pot. Toggle switch for changing the impedance (low Z, med Z, high Z etc), which changes the tonal response also. LED battery indicator & output jack. All seems to work just fine to me.
Very low background noise in use. In the interests of complete honesty, there is just a tiny bit of noise when adjusting the tone pots, but nothing that would be too noticeable. Certainly would never, ever notice it at a gig. Probably like this from new as a lot of active systems make a tiny bit of noise when you are actually changing the pot values when you have any signal going through them at all.
Couple of minor scratches on the main surface plate but still gives the impression of being in good condition.
Despite the colour on the main pic, it is a normal chrome/silver finish. The pic makes it look a bit gold to me, but please be re-assured that it is not.

Pickup wires screw into mini clamps on the preamp. The only soldering/crimping is to connect your bridge/cavity grounds to the white wire in the picture. Easy peasy to fit. Comes with fitting instructions.
Please check your cavity size. It needs to be 1.2" deep, 1.1" wide (1.02" at the battery end) and 4.8" long.

£70 posted to your door in mainland UK. £75 to the EU.

If the noise you get when turning the knobs only happens on the stacked knobs it could be down to the earthing between the upper and lower controls. I had that with an East J-retro pre-amp like an occasional crackling noise. John East sent me a couple of fine springs that sit between the controls to ensure that a contact was always and that sorted that.

Tempted with this pre-amp but have told myself that I need a passive bass!

Cheers

The impedance switch brings the grunt. Everyone should try one at least once.

It certainly does. Also worth mentioning that the pre-amp has internal gain pots to regulate the gain of each pickup when you engage the low-Z (increased bass response) .... ideally to match the mid-Z volume I guess.
