Owen Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I have an Audere preamp which has a kind of addictive low impedance switch on it. It is pretty addictive. I know nothing of the inside stuff. Is this do-able without using an Audere? Some sort of passive jiggery-pokery? Quote
ikay Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) Technical blurb from Audere here: - http://www.audereaud...TechDetails.htm A passive varitone control does something similar using a stepped tone control with different value capacitors: - http://www.certainba...m/varitone.html - http://www.seymourdu...ne-alternative/ I have an Audere in my JO4. Great little preamp IMHO and the z-mode adds real body to the sound. Yes it can be addictive! But I love the punch and clarity of a jazz so tend to use it on the 'standard' z-setting most of the time. Edited December 23, 2012 by ikay Quote
Owen Posted June 23, 2023 Author Posted June 23, 2023 I shall bring life to my own thread. Does anyone (or could anyone) put something together which would do this Low-Z thang that I could plumb into a passive or an active bass? Like that bit of the Audere which I REALLY liked. I know that an active pre will be buffering the pickups so where to put the new bit in the signal path would be an issue. Quote
