HarryPotter Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 It's a bit hawkish I know, but I was wondering if there might be some genuine bargains available in the near future? Quote
Moody Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I thought SC did most of their stuff on sale or return? I could be totally wrong though so please treat with a large dose of seasoning. Quote
Machines Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I think it's more a case of because they're in bankruptcy.. I doubt normal sales rules will apply. Quote
Happy Jack Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 I don't think they're in Bankruptcy (i.e. Liquidation), they're in Administration. That's not being pedantic - they're different things and have different effects. The prime job of the Administrators is to try to trade out of financial difficulty and either turn the business around or get it into a fit state to be sold. Neither of those will be helped by holding a fire sale. If SC do go into Liquidation because the Administrators decide that it's beyond salvage, then there might be some sales. Alternatively, the Administrators might take a simple offer from a competitor to take their entire stock. Quote

Either that or they have had a cracking week of selling stuff. Quote
dangerboy Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 Last time I popped into Oxford St loads of things had stickers on saying "property of [manufacturer name here]. NOT FOR SALE" so I guess most stuff was going back whence it came. Quote
Dubs Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 The guitarist in my band (Rob) got a mega deal on an American Standard Tobacco Sunburst Strat and a DigiTech Whammy (+ 8 sets of D’Addario strings thrown in for free) cos he walked in with a wedge of cash and pretty much said “take it or leave it”…and they took it. So I think to a certain extent, and because of what’s happening to the company at the moment, you can propose your own deals and be a bit of a mean f***er about it. By the way – that was the SC in Salford (Manchester) Quote
nevernever Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 The SC in Leicester is also thin on the ground. To be honest (and without sounding like a moaning git) I'm not surprised SC is going downhill, the service at the one in Leicester is dreadful. Quote
