It hurts to sell this.

Rarer than hen's teeth - I doubt you'll find another sunburst in the UK. Custom shop quality. Info here.

*withdrawn* including UK postage, complete with the factory fitted case, originally supplied bits (including a perspex ramp) and additional custom-made tort pickguard.

This pic shows the only flaw in the bass which I've just noticed - a little bit of the plating is coming off one of the saddles. Purely cosmetic:

Here's a clip of it with gruffy old flats on it. It SINGS with rounds.

Yip - I wanted one of these for years. It took me ages to find one. It's so versatile and well-built, but my J keeps looking at me with sad eyes whenever I post it up for sale.

Forgot to mention - it comes with the original posh Fender case, and weight-wise the bass itself is on the medium side of medium. Not heavy at all.

Cheers, Nik.

Here's an IV being played properly, by the man himself...

Nice. Never heard of these basses but love the sound on both your clip and this one. It has a very specific tone which doesn't sound like a Jazz or a P. Possible a bit like a musicman stingray with the hi end turned down. Have bump on me :)

It's worth bearing in mind that when you have both pickups switched to single-coil, what you have is a Jazz. The pickup locations match a 60s J perfectly.

Setting them to various combinations of series and parallel gives you loads of tonal options, from a P-esque thump to an MM honk, and lots inbetween.

Don't often post comments on other folks for sale threads , but just had to say that these are great basses and are a prime example of a Fender that will become sought after and highly collectable in future years , and appreciate in value as a result . Very few of these in circulation as very few were sold , but a well -designed and great sounding bass nevertheless . In ten or twenty years these will be some collectors holy grail .

Cheers, Dingus.

Here's some terrible pics of the case & goodies, taken with my phone in murky light this afternoon. As soon as it dries up outside (March, I'm guessing) I'll take proper pics.

In other news, thanks for all the trade offers. And... I'll now ship this in the UK at the buyer's expense.

Extremely good sounding bass to record with as well....I have one....I think the pickups are Bill Lawrence designed/made.
The pickups are indeed Bill Lawrence and with all the various switch permutations the RB will pull off a damn fine impression of any of the usual suspects. However, when I had one I pretty much stuck to the both p/ups on, in series sound as favoured by the man himself, marvellous. Hard to believe this hasn't been snapped up yet. Maybe fate is trying to tell you something WOT ;)

Yep - it's a glorious noise!

If it doesn't sell, I'm just try and cope with the guilt of having more basses than I need, and just enjoy gazing at it and gigging it.

If I hadn't bought Beedster's Ric recently this would be collected next week!

Any interest in a 60's EB3 recently lovingly restored and refinished by the Bass Doc with original string mute and shaped case in a trade with cash adjustment or a superb condition Gibson SG Classic plus cash for those guitar inspired moments ?
