william
Been offered a Peavey tour 700 for £150 of a good mate of mine, was wondering if it'll work with my cabs?? Peavey tvx 410 8 ohms and a 1X18 Peavey 8ohms from i'm guessing the late 70's early 80´s??
Salt on your Bass?
Sounds fine to me. I believe the toir 700 runs down to 2 ohms so youll be getting around 450 watts at 4 ohms. No guarantee on tone though with mismatched cabs.
Lozz196
If it`s the current model, this is the spec from Thomanns site: Peavey Tour 700 Bass Head, 2HE,700 Watt @ 4Ohm, 500 Watt @ 8 Ohm So you`ll be fine. In fact, I`d be tempted - especially due to the weight of the Peavey cabs - to try it with just the 410. They`re great cabs, and am sure 500 watts into a 410 should be enough for most situations. JTUK
Can see this working pretty well.. Whether you would want to cart the whole thinga round for gigs is another question, but I can't see why this would not all add up well enough. You must be happy with the cabs and know what they'll do..
TomWIC
I love my Tour 700, but I was a dummy and didn't fully take in the specs and thought it was only pumping 350W in my 8ohm cab. Imagine my horror when I really cranked it and ended up blowing my cab. After checking again, I realised it was pumping 500W into it, so as long as you're not REALLY cranking it, it'll be fine. I run it with an ABM 410 and ABM 210 (650W and 300W respectively) and it's fine, typically with the pre-gain around 5 and the post-gain between 5 for one band and all the way with the other. Keep the DDT switch enabled and you'll soon know if you're running it too hard for you cabs.
