Makes it sound 'smoother' takes away high/harsh peaks.. i'm quite heavy handed so it was quite useful. The overdrive i never really seemed to get along with in my current band. We play alter bridge kind of stuff and i like my bass sounding clean but heavy. This is a little to 'dirty' for me. Used to love it in my old band though. Brought an me50b off andy travis so i can start experimenting in new effects Thought they would have more interest then this by now though?
