julietgreen Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Followed the signs from Dave M on YouTube. I'm relatively new to bass, having done more blowing than fingering, so to speak - but having fun now playing local gigs and slightly out of my comfort zone. Quote
BassTractor Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 If it's not too presumptuous: Welcome, Juliet! You must have been lurking here. Your choice of words is as appreciated as it is inspiring, so to speak. Incoming! Duck and Cover! For a relative noob, you've come long seeing as you're playing gigs. Kudos. You'll find there's lots of convertites on here - many from guitar, but also quite some who started out with an instrument instead of the bass. Do you still play a wind instrument? I played the flute for years, but am really an organist and now bass noob. Stay outside your comfort zone. Develop. Enjoy. best, bert Quote
Leen2112 Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Hey Juliet, Welcome to basschat, fear not it's not all basschat here. you can shoot the sh*t in off topic if you want. Playing bass is all about the fun so keep at it and tell us tales of your gigs. Cheers Leen. Quote
julietgreen Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Thanks for the welcomes folks. I also play saxophone and in fact am doing both on New Year's Eve - 2 bands - cheesy rock and then some ska to finish the night. Quote
lastnotleast Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Welcome. Also new to bass and have found these forums to be quite helpful. Enjoy Quote
TheGreek Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Hey Juliet welcome to the Forum..surprised that nobody's ventured into Shakespeare territory yet...maybe we're not as cultured as I thought.. Again, welcome.. Quote
BassTractor Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 We're so cultured that that little play has become a vague memory from our first delvings into culture. We're bass players, gahdemmit. b, b Quote
