Hobbayne
How many bassists use the same line (or a variation of it) on more than one song? The jams Bruce Foxton has used this pattern in three songs. See if you can spot them. foxton4001
Interesting. Regarding Liza Radley, being the B-side of Start, it was probably recorded in the same session. To me it sounds like Bruce is even using the Rivoli Bass on both songs. I guess they needed a quick line to fill out the song, hence rehashing the 'taxman'-esq bit. Still love his lines/playing tho! Hobbayne
Yes I agree, Bruce Foxton is the main reason I took up bass. His playing on the setting sons album is amazing!!
foxton4001
Funny how in interviews he says he never used rickenbackers after 78, yet tracks like 'Wasteland' and 'Girl on the Phone' are almost certainly not precisions. Sorry for going off topic!
spongebob
More OT, but related to the above post - good point! He played the Ric on 'Something Else' on TV in '79 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9F_FqbZ0iJY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuHvkXgfATk
foxton4001
Love these clips - the bass tone is simply god-like IMO. How dare Weller deface his 330 with stickers!?! (he probably had enough of them!)
