I didn't think he was much good. Sad to see, as I love 1980's Adam Ant. Mind you, he had his heyday in better times, not surprising that it doesn't translate well to modern times.

Stand and Deliver was particularly lacklustre.

Yours was one of the first on here! Loved it. I played one recently and was thoroughly impressed.

I think mine was broken as it never sounded the same as Dave Swift's ;-).

I do hanker after another, I've settled on P basses now.

Was Jools bassist using a Fender P5 instead of the Dingwall Super P?

Yes, he said on Facebook that it is ticking al the boxes for him at the moment, it's a regularly USA standard P5

Interesting...considering he could use a £2.5k Dingwall or Fender for about £1.1k, the normal passive Fender holds its own.

I worked as security with many bands from late 70's until recently, had the unfortunate pleasure of working with adam ant or stuart goddard, it must have been around 81/82 he did a show at the Glasgow Apollo what a con man, he played videos on a big screen the first half of the concert???? then he came on stage with his live??? band, he had session guitarists hidden behind the pa bins on both sides of the stage, the guitarist was supposed to be marco pirroni , his guitar was not even plugged in!!!! biggest con man out and last nights drivel proved it . phew had to get that off my chest lol.

Yes. I can believe that. All his best stuff was done in the '70s. Don't know how the 'Antmusic' and subsequent 'highwayman' thing came about, I suspect it was something they agreed to do to increase their appeal.

I had heard he had returned to his raw '70s type punk.

Didn't see the show, might watch it on iPlayer.

I love the old school stuff , but Adam Ant , Roland Gift and Kevin Rowland lacked the vocal power of the younger performers.
Mr Ant was visibly relying upon his back up vocalist midway through the track .
As much as it pains me to say it , but Paloma Faith was the saving grace of the Jools Holland show .

Cheers. He took the backing band off to form Bow Wow Wow and gave Adam a completely new set of musicians. That would explain a lot.

...and yeah, The Hives brought the energy.

The Hives are such a great band. They're a lesson in how to be in a rock n roll band!

I thought that was a bit odd too. I wonder how many people actually knew who he was?
