GrammeFriday
Truly jaw-dropping! I am in Birmingham and have just made a New Year's resolution to always try before buying, so I guess that rules me out of this. But ... just out of interest ... what's the weight? (The inevitable bad back sufferer's question.)
geofio
dont know the weight to be honest it is a bit heavier that a 4003. Edited January 6, 2013 by geofio
karlfer
They are around 9lb and bloody marvelous basses, jazz neck, active pups, rolled fingerboard, hm bridge. Even better with a tortie plate on!
geofio
certainly is a fantastic bass, just wish i could take to other basses. the one i have has a fantastic growling E string if you turn the treble of and roll the pickup selector to jazz pickup you get a really interesting almost fretless tone amazing bass it can do any tone, typical precision sound, throaty jazz, and anything in between if you adjust the tone knobs. GrammeFriday
Thanks for the replies, guys. 9lbs? Sweet - same ballpark as my MIJ 62 reissue Jazz (9.08lbs/4.12kg), which is the lightest of my current set of basses!

dave_bass5
Oh my, this is the first green bass I've ever liked the look of, and like is way to mild. I've never seen this model before. Can anyone tell me about the blocks and binding. Is it cheap and plasticky like on the MIM 70's Jazz? I felt the MIM's binding was horribly cheap looking and it really put me off that bass. Cheers. geofio
Dave there is nothing cheap looking about this bass i can assure of that or i would not have purchased it in the first place , great attention to detail on this bass for sure , the edges of the fret board have been rounded of with the binding, the binding goes 1/2 an inch past the nut, there was a great attention made to the neck on this bass i feel, the finish on the body is second to none with a slight sparkle going through the metallic paint. ceramic noisless jazz pickup and vintage precision pickups, Eq is very nice too massive amount of tone on this bass it really can do any sound that you want on a bass, i am just to used to Rickenbackers after over 30 years of playing nothing but rics. if you dont buy mine get one before they disappear only 150 for europe. cheers George
karlfer
Big section on Talkbass about these, loads of info. Going to bed cos I'm an old git, hence no link yet
wombatboter
I had one of these and liked it a lot... very well build, a great fast neck, versatile electronics. Just a great bass for that price.. I only sold it because I could get a Squier JV Precision. You won't be disappointed with these basses.. Made a short clip with it (just the two separate pick ups, no blending) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNXO67PQdQk

To be honest ive never heard the 70's MIM described as cheap either but i felt the binding was. I'd love this bass but im really not in a position right now to buy it.
