moppatoppa Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) This here is an absolutely fantastic bass. If you are unfamiliar with the Darryl Jones signature model it's the finest bass in the Lakland Skyline range IMHO. I purchased this around a year ago from a professional touring bassist, it was basically like new when I bought it, mostly down to it being an identical spare to his main bass. It's in brilliant condition, has served me well and has been very well looked after since. The only signs of wear are a very small ding at the very top of the headstock and a small area on the back on the neck where the lacquer is beginning to wear, hopefully you can see these from the pictures. The bass won't include a case, but will come with a fresh set of strings on. If you do really need a gig bag let me know as I can include a Fender one for a little bit extra. Inspections are welcome, you won't be disappointed. Can offer next day delivery via UPS if payment is made via Paypal or Bank Transfer, but cash on collection would be ideal. I'm based in Suffolk. karlfer Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Why is this still here? Stunning, wonderful bass at excellent price.
moppatoppa Posted January 7, 2013 Author Posted January 7, 2013 Totally agree Karlfer :-) Shame to see it go, this really is an incredible bass!
moppatoppa Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 The bass is also for sale on eBay, someone suggested that seeing my seller's ratings might be helpful! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110997089348
Gust0o Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Superb basses. I have an identical one, and it's eminently playable. These are lighter than the 'signed' DJs.
karlfer Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Mine's a signed one that's heavier. Has to be. It's got the weight of the signature and a lot of Lake Placid Blue paint Bump.
Gust0o Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Haha, the black paint on mine must be made of dark matter, for the extra weight That said, they're not particularly heavy basses. Typical solid Lakland build, very happy with mine.
thumbo Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 I'd be all over this if I hadn't bought a DJ5 not so long ago. Fantastic basses, you'd be very hard pushed to find a better jazz for this price.
cocco Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Does this have the Lindy fralin pickups or the newer ones?
moppatoppa Posted January 14, 2013 Author Posted January 14, 2013 Cocco, I believe this has either Aero or Lakland's own single coil pickups. I'm not sure as to what year Lakland switched over, so perhaps someone here would be able to clarify? They are definitely the original 'pups though, so hope that helps!
obbm Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Lift the control plate and check the pick-up wires. Aero pickups have black and white plastic wires. Laklands have red and black, and green and black wires. Lindy Fralin are black and white cloth covered wires.
karlfer Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 It's Indonesian, post 2008, will be Lakland pups. And despite what the rest of the world seems to think they are ******* brilliant!
Philly Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I have the exact same bass and agree they are absolutely fantastic!
Guest markinthegreen Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 This is my old bass! Strange because Im having another clear out, and just noticed this was the next advert. It is a 2010 model so has the Lakland Pickups. This is a lovely bass, and served me well!
bclhaynes Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Another +1 for this bass, seen/heard it in action and it's absolutely fantastic.
