I want soft leather, and I mean soft...
I want it at least 3.5" wide....
I want it to "grip" my shoulder and not slide around...
I don't want to spend more than £50....

Recommend me happy, BC!

Bought stuff from both of these guys:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Steph-Tan-Cowhide-Suede-Bass-Guitar-Strap-Nubuk-Ends-/160733450717?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&hash=item256c75d1dd

Great service from both - you might also want to look at "dangleberry" - also very reasonable

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Have managed to pick up an as new 4.5" wide Richter Springbreak for good money, so hopefully I'm all sorted.

Sold it on as it wasn't grippy enough for me. However, having spoken to Lars at Richter he's going to send some straps to Phil at Bass Gear for me to try out! The quality was certainly there, lovely straps.

The Comfort Strapp is not leather, but ticks all of your other boxes. The main part of the strap is a thick slab of neoprene, which is non-slip and has some 'give' without being springy. I have several and wouldn't use anything else for gigging as they are so comfortable and robust. You may want to aim for the large/extra-large size - the short & medium are way too short for me. I use a large for my Jazz & extra-large for my T-bird - and they are not exactly strung low.

I was about to ask about straps wider than 4" - Will need to look in to these too!

Minotaur bass straps are 11cm wide... which is 4.33 inches... ;)

The Springbreak is also available with a microfibre underside, so that should address the slippage problem I had (albeit with a slightly neck heavy bass).

I saw that. I wonder if it was a one-off? Mine arrived in around four days.
Strange there's no response from emails though..?

My mrs bought me a lovely minataur strap for xmas. She ordered it at the begining of December and had to chase them nearer xmas as she was worried it wouldnt arrive in time. They replied immediately saying it would arrive in time, 2 days later the strap arrived....and what a strap it is!

Yes, I usually recommend Minotaur Straps if asked. Good to know they're still in business. Don't know why it should take so long to deliver though, mine arrived four days after ordering. You can order them from Thomann as well.

So what about this thread which was posted recently? Doesn't look very good to me.
