phsycoandy Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Bought off this very site my 2 new EBS Neo 112's (thanks mr choc-tele) posing with my GB (wouldn't Bernie be proud!) Looking forward to first outing next week. Funny I'd been looking for a lightweight pair of cabs, logged in at work, as you do, well don't you?, and saw these, deal was done within 10minutes of the listing! Quote
lukeward2004 Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Is that the GB bass recently seen in Bass Guitar Magazine? It looks superb, splendid rig there mate! Quote

As for the rig, yep it looks fine and my bad shoulder loves it but my ear isn't! Ive only had em 5 minutes but the sound just aint me, may well have to move em on....mmm Quote

It's funny that you should mention that your ear doesn't like those cabs. I used to run EBS Neo cabs - and I must admit, I far prefer the sound of the prolines. The prolines have a certain warmer tone about them than the Neos. To me, the Neos sound very, very clinical. Not saying that one is better than the other... but they are very different. It may be the case however, that Markbass heads and EBS cabs are just not a good match in this case. Quote

OutToPlayJazz Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Did you try MarkBass cabs at all? I wouldn't change mine for anything! (I'd love an SWR rig for my Triumph upright, but my back wouldn't like it!) Quote
bass_ferret Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I dont think there are smaller lighter 112 cabs than the Neolines. I used to throw mine up in the air and catch them to show how light they were. If you want light its pretty much got to be Neo's. The new Bergy AE112 are supposed to sound more traditional. Other than that you are looking at the non neo Bergy, Aguillar GS and DB, and thats about it for a 112! I think Robbies Dr Bass cabs are all Neo. Quote
bass_ferret Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Just had a thought - did you try a Markbass R500 with your cabs? Quote
