ZenBasses Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I think it would make a stunning fingerboard Probably ridiculously expensive plus has anyone ever seen any as a fretboard made from it? http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/black-and-white-ebony/ Quote

lettsguitars Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Alan Cringean uses unusual material just like that. Ask him! Quote
ZenBasses Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013
Alan Cringean uses unusual material just like that. Ask him!
I shall have to seek him And yes I do believe I would probably contract a hernia from spotting my tea out if I saw what it costs. Having a new bass made by Jon Shuker.. One of the 'wants' was for an usual fingerboard..I shall show this to him and see what he can come up with.. I just saw it and thought dang that is just wanting some frets and strings (or indeed just, the strings) Quote
lettsguitars Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Post it in one of the ACG threads in the affiliates forum. I'm sure he wont mind lending his opinion. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Have it cut up and laid out so it looks like a piano keyboard on your fretboard. With the black keys where dots would be... (And it'd confuse keyboard players!) Quote
KiOgon Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Wouldn't it sound awful though? I'm thinking Jacko & Macca Quote
stoker Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I've got a very old home build in my parents undercroft with a nice bit of greenheart for the fingerboard. Quote
