lr140011 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Hi, selling as-new KALA UBASS solid spruce top. Played twice. Mint condition. Has been upgraded with a Shadow preamp Shadow JM1 preamp with volume- and Tone control, battery 3 volt cell) matching the factory pickup. Short scale (20") bass that produces the same pitches as a standard bass instrument and is tuned in traditional bass tuning, EADG. The U-BASS is strung with proprietary polyurethane strings that incorporate a great bass feel, with balanced tension; they are a true pleasure to play. Mahogany back and sides, Solid Spruce Top, Mahogany neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge Nice feel and sound. Bought it new to use fill-in upright bass parts. I finally managed get hold of an affordable used 3/4 acoustic upright bass, so the KALA can leave and help raising funds for a bigger car ;-) 300€ ONO Pictures here: Cheers Loris

Happy Jack Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 OK, I'm impressed. I liked my (Owen's) U-bass for the few months that I had it, but the palette of sounds was - inevitably - rather limited. Those Pyramids sound really rather good.

Happy Jack Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I see they're not cheap though. Judging by Gollihur's prices in the US they're about twice the price of 'normal' U-bass strings ... for a given value of 'normal' of course.
