Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 Headphone Jack

Hi, I know the answer is probably no, but is there any way to use the Genz Benz's headphone out without hooking it up to a cabinet? Just seems a bit stupid to have the headphone out not mute the signal to the speakers, defying the whole reason for the output. Any ideas?

Yep, the manual says clearly that you can use the headphone output without having any speakers attached.

These amps (and a lot of similar ones) don't "need" to have a load connected to function safely, that's more important on valve amps, that's why the headphones doesn't mute the cab, you can simply use the head with phones. The mute feature is more common in combos where you can't detach the head from the cab. Don't worry and use it.

You might want to be able to mute the cabs but still have the phones live in a gigging situation too, bass tech checking for a problem on a bass before a gig, tuner is live and so are the phones both useful in that situation.

Good point Pete, i haven't remembered about that. Using the mute switch you can also have the cabs wired to the head (so you don't need to be constantly connecting and disconnecting cables) but not being used while you're playing through headphones.
