Tobiasthegiant Posted January 8, 2013 Share Posted January 8, 2013 Hi, I know the answer is probably no, but is there any way to use the Genz Benz's headphone out without hooking it up to a cabinet? Just seems a bit stupid to have the headphone out not mute the signal to the speakers, defying the whole reason for the output. Any ideas? Ghost_Bass Posted January 9, 2013 Share Posted January 9, 2013 These amps (and a lot of similar ones) don't "need" to have a load connected to function safely, that's more important on valve amps, that's why the headphones doesn't mute the cab, you can simply use the head with phones. stingrayPete1977 Posted January 9, 2013 Share Posted January 9, 2013 You might want to be able to mute the cabs but still have the phones live in a gigging situation too, bass tech checking for a problem on a bass before a gig, tuner is live and so are the phones both useful in that situation. Using the mute switch you can also have the cabs wired to the head (so you don't need to be constantly connecting and disconnecting cables) but not being used while you're playing through headphones.
