bassix Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 (edited) Hi everyone, Looking to get rid of some old gear so expect some other items in the next few days. First up is a nice Jim Deacon P Bass I picked up last year with the intention of upgrading but haven't got round to. As you can (hopefully) see from the pictures it has a beautifully flamed neck which wouldn't be out of place on something much more expensive. There is some slight damage to the heel of the bass which has been fixed by the previous owner but all things considered this is a lot of bass for not much money. As some may know they are made out of the same factory as the SX brand so quality is much higher than the price you pay. I'm looking for £80 to get it out the door. Will deliver if required but collection from Hove preferred, Can also deliver to London during the week. bassix Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Reduced to £70. Great for those that always wanted to try an SX bass after the hype on Talkbass.

bassix Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Reduced to £50! Worth it for the neck alone!
mcnach Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013
As some may know they are made out of the same factory as the SX brand so quality is much higher than the price you pay.
I hear people saying that, but do we have any evidence that the SX factory make basses that are branded Jim Deacon too? I see similarities, but I'm not convinced. Also, a while ago, someone from the family who owns SX contacted me (long story, I had an SX guitar that was amazing and sang its praises everywhere) and gave me some more information etc, and the impression I got was that -at least at the time- they were very much focused in developing their own brand, SX.
mcnach Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Incidentally, I liked the Jim Deacon P/J bass I used to have, and a guitarist friend of mine makes a Jim Deacon stratocaster truly sing, fully stock.
