Fender Road Worn Precision - SOLD

I have here a beautifully knackered Fender Road Worn Precision for sale. Factory reliced, so still in 'as new' condition - and always will be! It is therefore impossible to harm the resale value of this bass by adding another ding! :D

The classic two tone sunburst with a gold anodized plate oozes vintage cool. The neck is amazing, with vintage tint satin nitro finish, rolled edges, vintage frets, 7.25" radius, 1.75" nut with vintage reverse tuners. The neck is wider at the nut and the fretboard more curved than modern Precisions, but it feels a lot smaller in the hand than the similar Classic 50s series probably due to the rolled edges. I've not weighed it but it's the lightest P I've ever picked up - apparently they used specially selected lightweight alder for this range. Neck pocket is tighter than a gnat's chuff and also word has it that they use the same pickups as the American Standard. According to reviews, many say that for tone and feel, these are the best P basses that Fender have ever put out!

Cheapest I can find online for this is £948. I'm asking for [s]£600[/s] £575 delivered, or [s]£575[/s] £550 if you can pick up (I live near St Neots in Cambs and commute to London).

Indeed it is! It looks cool but the ultimate reason I don't get on with it is I've come to realise I prefer narrower necks. These chunkier ones are definitely more comfortable to hold but not so easy to play fast on with small hands!

From what I`ve read over on Talkbass, yes. These are essentially the Classic 50s basses, but then aged. Over on TB, one of the members had an e-mail from some Fender Exec (which he posted), confirming that US Pickups were in the Classic 50s Precisions.

And yes, these basses are quality, they just have something undefinable, but special about them.

+1 ...IMO the something special is the nitro finish. While I couldn't tell you anything about the tonal differences/qualities of nitro v poly, the finish just makes them great to play.

This is a great price for a really great bass.

The specs look the same bar the relic'ing and the nitro, but played back to back IMO there's no comparison. There is just something special about them.

Plus every RW I've picked up has been incredibly light, so I think specially selected woods may have been used.
