mingsta Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 I'm after a fretless neck for my old faithful '92 ray. Finding one out in the wilds is like rocking horse S**t....I know that status do a graphite neck, but I just can't bring myself to put the black shiney stuff on my lovely old bass. Is there anyone out there who makes or can make a replacement neck? Quote
philparker Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 It's a good idea and something I've been mulling over for some time as I play fretless far more often than fretted, but I do love my '96 EB MM Ray. I once saw one for sale on eBay for a couple of hundred quid that should have fit my guitar as a bolt-on, but mine has 6 screws and this had 4?! Any Luthier should be able to do this and a conversation with one should confirm how practical this will be. I was thinking of asking Brian Eastwood the next time I bump into him when I'm travelling up north: http://www.brianeastwoodguitars.co.uk/index.html I've no idea how expensive it would be, but I would expect a few hundred pounds?! keeptrying Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Hi, Shuker Guitars will make you a wooden neck, cost at least £200 tho. The other items for sale section here has had fretless MM necks up for grabs. Good luck Quote
geoffbyrne Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 If you're in the Midlands, Jon Letts near Leicester would probably help you out. G. Quote

philparker Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I've just seen that I can get a Status Graphite neck, unlined fretless, for £286. I might give that a try! Quote
