Old Horse Murphy Posted January 13, 2013 Share Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) For sale is a recently acquired Fender Custom Shop 55 P Bass with certificate, case and all the candy. It has also now been registered with Fender's Custom Shop so has a limited lifetime warranty (cards will be supplied). It's in wonderful overall condition but has the indents where the chromeware has been fitted and a few marks where you can see the grain due to the light coat of nitro paint used. There's also a very tiny (1mm) lacquer crack right my the neck socket which is miniscule but I wanted to mention it for completeness. It's been set up and fitted with D'Addario Chromes and plays wonderfully and sounds superb. The weight is under 9lbs so very comfortable too. The neck profile feels like a B width to me, but has a slight V shape up near the nut to about the 5th fret. It is very comfortable though and moving from a Jazz to the P bass feels very comfortable. Confused! [/quote] Its a Custom Shop manufactured bass, based off a 1955 P-bass template that has been lightly aged to look like it has sat in a case for 50-odd years! Imagine a Fender dealer goes in to the store room tomorrow & finds a 1955 P bass that had been missed & is still in its wax wrapping, untouched since 1955.
