Freddie75
Hi all, I would really appreciate some help here. The stock driver in my genz focus 115 cab has started distorting unwantedly. I'm not bothered about getting the standard replacement so am thinking of going with something of higher quality. Here is the Genz Benz Focus Cab: http://www.genzbenz.com/?fa=detail&mid=2858&sid=704&cid=96 Is it possible for me to go purchase one of these and pop it straight in: http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/eminence-kappalite-3015-neo-8ohm-15-450watt-speaker-p-854.html http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/eminence-kappalite-3015lf-neo-8ohm-15-450watt-speaker-p-855.html http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/celestion-bn15400s-8ohm-neo-magnet-bass-guitar-speaker-15-p-548.html Any help appreciated. Please pm me if you want to pop up. Swindon is only an hour ish from me.
Thanks for the kind offer sir, before commiting to anything I wouldnt mind a few opinions on the best possible speaker replacement ie can I go with a neo - type of drivers used by Barefaced or something like that. I'm willing to speand the extra buck on something top quailty if its gonna make a big enough difference.
Mr. Foxen
Kappalite 3015 is fairly forgiving being stuck into an existing cab, but sometimes you can retune to benefit more. Lining also helps. The 3015LF is a sub driver so not a goer. The Celestion is not as good as the Kappalite.
redstriper
I have a kappalite 3015LF in a very small Flite cab and I like it very much. I play mainly reggae and soul music and I like a very deep bass tone. This driver sounds clear, deep and smooth, with more treble response than I expected. The non LF version might be more suitable if you like more upper mid and treble. I have no idea how they would sound in your cab though. I also had the kappalite 3015LF in an Ashdown cab and it sounded great there too.

I don't care that it's got no top - I bi-amp into an 8" for that when I need it (for EUB).
My Celestion is not a neo so does not suffer from the hard midrange that some bass players complain about. It has a deep old school type of sound with a strong upper bass punch around the 90 - 110hz range. If you want to pop up and give it a go just let me know. Mr. Foxen
Isn't neo that shapes the midrange, just another design parameter.
