Truckstop
I'd no idea he was in the Wrecking Crew and he was such a gifted guitarist! Obviously I knew he played guitar, but not to that sort of standard for a long long time. Must learn more. What an enigma! Truckstop
Oopsdabassist
It's too quick (drummer's fault!), but here's my band doing Wichita Lineman. Sounds best in headphones.
Sounding real good there mate, your lady there has a sweet voice! My mum was a big Glen Campbell fan so I would have first heard this when I was about 8, those haunting lyrics have stuck with me all my life, and the song still has the power to make me go all melancholy Brilliant! Wow very interesting stuff. A

Like discovering the amazing musical credentials of Chas Hodges in that recent Chas & Dave documentary.

12stringbassist
Went to see him at the Lowry on his farewell tour (which is still running in the USA). Apart from a few inappropriate notes in the solo of Galveston, he was spot on. They were dealing with a really weird monitoring system and couldn't hear themselves properly, which may explain that. Cat Burrito
Superb BBC4 programme as always. I must confess as my Mum got me into Glen Campbell back in the 70s there wasn't much about his career I didn't know. That said the Alzheimer's stuff at the end was just heartbreaking. Best documentary I've seen in a while
Cosmo Valdemar
I used to work with a guitarist/arranger who saw the Beach Boys tour early '65 . Glen Campbell was filling in for Brian Wilson playing bass and singing the falsetto harmonies at the same time . Respect !
Interesting quote from Mr Campbell about that period in his life - "I'm not a bass player. I can play bass but I'm not a bass player". wombatboter
I watched the concert on BBC4 with the big orchestra and I was floored by it.. No in-ears at that time but he was spot on in every note, his time was unbelieveable although the arrangements were tough and his guitarplaying was superbe.. All that from a musician who can't read a note. What an amazing talent.. Funny that he appeared with the bagpipes which he could also play :-)
discreet
Got this recorded. Going to watch it tonight all cosy with a mug of cocoa and wearing a smoking jacket, hat, lounge pants, dressing gown, furry slippers and odd socks and smoking a pipe.
