Dood
A very quick question for you knowledgeable studio types! I'm being a bit of a cheapskate and wondered if there were a cheaper solution pop shield / shock mount / mic stand for my condenser rather than the official SE version? Are they usually a generic size? Thanks all! Great lil Mic, I'm really impressed. Doood
OldG
you'll get a cheap shockmount for just over a tenner from the 'bay - which will attach to most generic mic stands. Pop shields can be made easily by stretching tights or stockings over anything vaquely circular - I've used old coat hangers, sections of drainpipe, even one of those pet frisbee rings. As for those expensive reflexion filter screen's - just as well using a quilt propped/hung behind the mic....
flyfisher
I've got one of those mics and I bought a shock mount and pop shield from Studiospares. I can,t remember the exact details but I don't recall the price being particularly scary and they seem to work fine.
Dood
Thanks guys! That's great! - I'll take a closer look when I have a mo' later!
51m0n
Just make sure that the shock mount will accept that size mic. Studiospares are pretty good though, phone them and ask them to recommend you one if you arent sure...
Dood
Yup, it looks like the bottom of the mic is 18-19mm so it'll be a small clamp. I'll check Studio Spares out. Some of those shock mounts are really expensive! I was thinking of making my own as I have tons of that elastic stuff they use.... Boots sell it - though they prefer to call it 'hair bands'! heh! Skol303
Sorry Dood, but I read the topic as 'SEX Shock Mount?'. I guess that'd be a totally different product - and forum I'll get me coat...
Dood
Actually, on the box for the Mic it is written 'sEX1' - i dont think it was an accident! I have visions of a SEX Shock Mount being some kind of private sporting pursuit manoeuvre!
