discreet
A Quick eBay Question... OK, you've got something to sell on the Bay, and you've decided to take the hit on the extortionate fees and so forth, yadda yadda. To keep things simple you've gone for a straight BIN (By It Now) 'auction' where a click on the BIN button secures the item for the buyer, and whatever terms the seller has listed then apply, etc. But WHY do you get 'Watchers' on a Buy-It-Now listing? When the listing comes to the end of it's alloted time, the virtual hammer falls as usual and that's the end of it, sold or not. But in the case of a BIN, the price will be exactly the same at the end of the 'auction' as it was at the start, so... EXACTLY WHAT IS IT THAT THE 'WATCHERS' ARE WAITING FOR?? EITHER BUY THE ITEM, OR BUGGER OFF!! I thank you. BassBunny
I guess they are watching to see if it sells. If it doesn't you get a "fancy a deal off eBay" email.
discreet
I actually hadn't thought of that! I suppose I may be tempted, given the right offer... but I'm betting these are lowball watchers! Dave Vader
Sometimes we are watching cos we have one too, and want to see if you've been over-ambitious. Also, it gets watched as a bookmark, cos there's one like it that you are bidding on, and if you get that cheaper then happy times. If not, then you buy the BIN. And I like to watch don't you know? It's like they're all virtually mumbling, licking their lips and fiddling in their trousers. oldslapper
I sometimes like to watch....... .....stuff on eBay as I might not have the money at that point, so spend a day or two scampering around to see if I can raise the required amount. It saves me doing another search.

Mr. Foxen
Plus you can see if a while of not selling means they edit and drop the price.

Rick's Fine '52
I've watched BIN's before, because i think the seller has started high, will realise after 3 days he's pitched it high, only to lower the BIN considerably, if you 'aint watchin', but you're interested, then it could go elsewhere. This happens more often than you think, less so, since the 'best offer' option appeared, but its a regular thing. I also watch things that I'm curious about what the current market price is, keeps you up to date.
