I thought the worry would have set in when you offered to let me play at one of your gigs? Or the fact that you might actually meet me! :D :P

I'm sure that would be a pleasure!
I just hope you don't stop playing halfway through and enter review mode talking about my bass and it looked nice but it plays like sh*t and it needs new strings and the preamp is unnecessary and this and that :P

Took the baton to church this morning. I made a speech about the relay, waving the baton around like a demented King Arthur with Excalibur. I played it on all the songs in the service.

Result - £96.50 in the pot

It's a near certainty, my friend, a near certainty :D

I've got the chance to collect a bit more cash this weekend with the baton because I've got a barn dance gig.

Anyone in the Derby/Notts area want it next after Monday 13th?

As Neil (Len_Derby) mentioned, we managed to raise about 60 quid at the gig :)

Great work, I'll get some of those pics added to the FB page and the relay photo thread. If things keep going like this, we'll be at the £1000 mark in no time at all...of should I raise the bar? :-p

Hey guys, can't see it mentionned before - The relay's made it into this month's Bass Guitar Magazine! Don't get too excited, it's only a tiny little piece, but hopefully will draw a few more peeps in!

I think it was mentioned somewhere, maybe not on this thread. Still, it's great! If it's made in to a bit of a spectacle, it should draw crowds better. When I launched my new YouTube reviews channel, I just made a short video that was vague enough to get people interested. There should be some kind of promotional video on YouTube for this. I'd be happy to make one if you want, but i'd need some pictures or video footage. Then everyone can link it to their Facebooks and Twitters with the info on their upcoming gigs.

Genuinely pleased with how this is going, it looks like the Relay is only just getting started in its quest for awesomeness :D
[/quote]

It's not on a quest for awesomeness, it already had plenty to start off B) :D

Jim too, it's a pretty awesome thing to donate a bass to, and organise this. Good on you, Mr Ryan! :)

Glad you think so and cheers for the kind words :-)

I had another idea for when the relay comes to an end, but it'd be a logistical nightmare...a meet up and photo of everyone that's participated. Can't see that working though :-p

It would be really difficult! But, what you could do if you are good with photoshop, you could just use a background, and get everyone to take a picture (maybe against a green screen) and then edit it together :D

Next leg of the relay tonight.
Barn dance at Muggington village hall, Derbyshire. Live music by Dungeon Ghyll, featuring yours truly who will be root/five-ing the baton all night.

Who's next?

Muggington? Go careful :-p

Also, how many members have used it so far/signed the T? Once it builds up I'll contact national press.

Also (again), if anyone wants one (like me but a black one...medium size :-p), I'm sure if you ask Ped nicely, he'll be able to sort out an embroided polo like the one accompanying the baton. As a nice little personal momento and it'd also help the site.

Also, if the next user could state their preferred string type and gauge please. I'm going to contact Jason at Rotosound again as at LBGS he said he'd love to get involved with the relay by supplying a selection of string sets, but I've still not heard back.

If I should have some luck this time, I'll need to know what set to prioritise.

Another fun night for the relay. £28 in the pot.
I played the baton for the whole gig, personally I think this 'one song' business is a bit of a wimp-out.
Anyway, including GAZM's £62 for last Friday, that's £186 for the cause in one week.

Who's next?

let's keep this moving!!
