MiltyG565
I'd just like to say to all involved that I have been following this from day one and what you have achieved so far is outstanding. I have lost 2 best mates and my Dad to cancer in the last year or two and you all have my total respect. Off to just giving now to make a donation. Basschat Rocks.
You rock for donating! It's all about getting the funds up. We all know how beneficial knowledge is, especially when it comes down to something as serious and as life threatening as cancer, and that's how the money raised will be spent - research. I think it's a really worthy charity, because it doesn't aim to benefit this one particular group, it aims to help humanity as a whole understand the disease better. I can see literally no reason to not donate to this if you have the means too, even if it's just £5, it all helps to defeat our common enemy Good on you Sam, for making a donation! And good on everyone else for making a donation, and good on everyone who has played the bass at a gig, and good on BlueJay too for doing lots of organising and PR stuff, which none of us really know about
casapete
The Guitarist mention is in the new September edition, out now to subscribers before it hits the shops I guess.

ubassman
Don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box when donating . If anyone hasn't heard of Gift Aid before what it does is simple. When we pay taxes to HMRC if you tick the gift aid box then Just Giving will apply to HMRC and claim the gift aid amount government. It gets paid to Just Giving from the tax that HMRC have collected from the person who donates so doesn't cost anyone anything extra ! Good job guys ! The rules have changed but I think only for small donations. Someone should check with CRUK how they work it. I'm guessing they get a bit more than £5k a year. Jimryan
For those that haven't seen the Facebook post... Tomorrow, the Portsmouth News will be printing an article on us again and also, on the 8th of September, the bass and I will be heading to Bristol to meet up with Peter Hook!
So we have Mark King, Andrew Levy and Peter Hook more or less for certain, and we are still in talks to meet up with Guy Pratt and Dave Swift. Besides James and his hard work, we need to thank Lars Mullen and Donald "Donnyboy" and John "Rhino" Edwards, who got us in touch with Lars in the first place. And let's not forget all of you who have played the Baton, no matter whether it was to an audience of 5 penniless punters or 500 well-heeled concert-goers, and those who gave and are still giving money at the gigs and through the website. And in a corner, Milty and I keeping track of all that We are an impressive team indeed.
Silvia Bluejay
And I've just realised I forgot to mention in my thanks those, like Grangur and others before him, gave the Baton a lift from A to B even if they had no opportunity to play it. WalMan
Just had a look on line.
There is the potential for them to do a GA claim on small donations, but that is for donations up to £5k pa, and I suspect they get a bit more than that. In any event it is for cash donations of less than £20, so for many reasons collections at gigs that are then paid in through the JustGiving page will not technically qualify for GA. If I make a personal donation of £20 then I can tick the GA box. I was going to say that you will find that there are questions when you get to the donations as to the source of the funds (personal, from a collection from others, for a company) but JustGiving doesn't do that - VirginMoney donations made do, and on the VirginMoney page it confirms that only the personal donations do qualify for GA. LiamPodmore
With the mention of strings about 10 pages ago, did anyone think of Newtone? I hope to get myself involved when it starts coming back up north, and i'm actually gigging again, as well as have a chat to a few other guys i know.
