Is there a difference between Pedal D.I. and the D.I. on my amp?

I currently own a TC Electronic BH250, which has a D.I. out which I haven't used, as I currently don't play gigs. I've been offered an MXR Bass D.I.+ from work, but as I really don't know if it will be useful to me (as a user of virtually no pedals at all). (http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/m80-bass-di)

Any light shedding would be great. :)

It can be a useful problem solver or effect pedal. The DI is great, and often I use that to run to the board and then the amp's eq can be just for the stage sound. They're also pretty useful for having some semblance of your own sound if you're using a house amp. Failing that, the two channels open up some useful sound-shaping capabilities. I'd never do a gig without an MXR M80 or a similar unit. I'm quite tempted by the Darkglass actually. And the EHX one. And that new bassswitch thing. And I cant wait to see what GK come up with.
