neptunehealer
Hello all. I have been gigging with a Mark Bass F Series head (limited edition) for a couple of years now. In fact i bought it off here. As i am now seeking to use it at 4 ohms i have entered the realms of needing to know it's maxcimum power output. I have looked online and i can't find an official spec, just seen for sale adverts. People selling them say it's rated 250@8ohms and 450@4ohms. I know it says 450W on the front of the head, but on the back of the head on a silver plate it says Power rating = 550W So is my head 450@4ohms or 550@ohms? Here's a pic of it to help you to help me. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Mq&sa=X&tbo=d&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=xbq7HlBHEX8-nM:&imgrefurl=http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f8/anybody-using-bass-rig-completely-non-us-uk-918111/index2.html&docid=At2EyEbyvjR_0M&imgurl=http://medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/markbass-little-mark-f1-limited-edition-315346.jpg&w=3264&h=2448&ei=Ryj5UM2dMc2W0QXMqoD4Ag&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=1&sig=109946944603662019504&page=1&tbnh=142&tbnw=186&start=0&ndsp=31&ved=1t:429,r:1,s:0,i:86&tx=71&ty=

discreet
In my experience, regardless of spec Markbass amp go loud!
Musky
The 550w stated on the back of the amp is the power consumption, not what the amp puts out to the speakers.

steve-bbb
from a local amp tech here he tells me that speakers are rarely ever exactly 4 or 8 ohms so if you want accurate figure prob best to get somebody to throw multimeter at it maybe ?? [/quote] Impedance varies with frequency and cannot be measured with a multimeter. The pure resistance of a 4-ohm speaker will be in the order of 6-ohms. warwickhunt
Not trying to be ar5ey but even the 100w difference between the lowest and highest ratings won't make a ha'peth of difference in the real world. The ratings on the cabs (regardless of make) will be just as vague/incorrect as the amps ratings and whether you are putting in 550w rather than 450w won't 'really' matter.
