gjones
There isn't anything specific I've learned, listening to pro players I admire, other than less can sometimes be more. Find the groove and stick with it. Don't be afraid to just play a root note and keep it simple if that's what's needed. Play for the song, not the other bass players who you think may be listening. That's what gets you the gigs.
deepbass5
Just like to add. Pride in what you do which means the following. Being prepared musically and for every eventuality gear wise. Being punctual, Courteous to other band members and the public. Putting in the work and being the best you can regardless of who you are playing for or what you are getting paid. Also appearance conducive to the band leaders wishes as well as your conduct off stage to others.
thumperbob 2002
Influenced massively by Jamerson, Edwards, Larry Graham and Jaco. At one time or other sounded like them all, though now sound like myself. However I still get those moments when I hear any of those guys in my playing. Jamersons skill with timing is something I will never get though, but I try.
