jackers Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Hey all, I've just received my lovely Orange Terror Bass and I'm very happy with it I was just wandering what settings people use to get that lovely warm tubey goodness I currently have a P-bass with fairly dead rounds on it. Cheers Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Having used mine with a Precision strung with fairly dead rounds, I had Bass & Treble on full, Mids on zero, and both Gain & Volume on 2. Quote
rOB Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 When I had one it was full mid boost, treble and bass fully cut, gain on about 1/2 and volume to suit. Totally different from Lozz Quote
jackers Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Thanks guys will give them a go. anyone else? Quote
Prime_BASS Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Personally it has a fairly 'tubey' sound with the EQ at 12'o clock. As it is naturally bass heavy and mid scooped. Quote
jaydentaku Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Soooooo in conclusion, every conceivable setting sounds awesome. Quote

BassTractor Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Yes, seriously: if you do nothing to change the sound, you'll already have tubey, fatty sound. From there, EQ all you like, as it never becomes modern and Hi-Fi. Change the tubes mainly for different gain levels. Right now I'm having fun with a new Qsiure CV '50s P with factory strings (easy on the fingers, but seem deadish), and with a sad face on the EQ (though admittedly the sad face is hard to see with those round knobs - and so few of them too!) In addition, I'm very active at moving my playing hand between the neck and the bridge to press out some treble occasionally. Enjoy your new amp! best, bert Quote
dannybuoy Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 According to the measurements made when Bass Gear Mag reviewed it, 'flat' is supposedly mids up full, bass and treble all the way down. I run mine with mids and treble just past 1 o'clock and bass just past 10 o'clock, into an Ampeg SVT210AV. Quote
KK Jale Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 ^I use just about the same settings as Señor Buoy. Quote
BassYerbouti Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Everything at 12.00 for me with gain at 9.00 for my precision Quote
d-basser Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 Passive EQ so it does very little to be honest. I set bass to about 11oclock, mid to 1oclock and treble to about 12oclock Quote
thebassman Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Treble and mid on about 11 o'clock, bass on 8 o'clock, gain on 2 o'clock then volume to suit. I like a nice punky, gritty tone. I have had the low gain valve swap done though. This is through a 2x12 cab. Cheers Thebassman Quote
thebuckets Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 I have my eq all set at 12 o clock col and gain about 10 through a 2 x 12 loud as hell and a great sound its plug and play heaven Quote
Jarhead Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Gain maxed, bass about 10'o'clock, mids about 3'o'clock, treble on zero, volume as I need it. Quote
JMM Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I've been playing with everything at 12, which gives quite a nice overdrive sound, but not really enough of a contrast when I then use my distortion pedal. I'm now playing around with a lower gain for my clean tone, although I'm leaning more towards dropping my distortion pedal and just using the overdrive tone of the amp itself as it's got quite addictive! Ant Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 i couldnt get on with the preamp at all! i always had to use an external pre/tone shaping device to get the sound i wanted, in the end i traded it away for an ampeg pf500 Quote

mikeh Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 So far I'm finding my fav setting as others have said, tone min, mid max and bass almost min. Sounds great, and there is so much volume it's crazy. Had the gain upto 12 o'clock without any real breakup, but with both cabs, aguilar GS112 x2 I only had both volume and gain on 2!!! Quote
MarkG3 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013
Everything on max
Not really as obviously that would create a black hole if I did, I have pretty much Gain around 11 o'clock, Bass 12 o'clock, Mids 4 o'clock, Treble 11 o'clock and Volume to suit Quote
jackers Posted February 12, 2013 Author Posted February 12, 2013 cheers for all the different settings guys I'm hoping to be able to A/B it with my Landmark soon to see if it is a keeper. Quote
