Too big a question for too small a wallet and too short a lifetime.
I'm only playing bass for around 35 years now.
Wanted to try so much more but not everything was within reach.
Where others want the signal to be compressed, for me the bigger the dynamic range the better. I wanna be able to hear what the fingers are doing.

Walter Woods is a serious contestor.

GML2020 through a Crown XTi2 would be pretty amazing...

Ended up with Jule Monique and Bergantino IP112er, which combination leaves all others (Trace Elliot, Ampeg, Acoustic Image, Genz Benz etc.etc) far behind:

The best BASS amp to reproduce what you put in: Eden WT800B! Definitely! Bass preamp? Eden WP100 Navigator! Definitely!
The best bass amp that colours your tone: Fender Studio Bass! Absolutely!

for me the best amp ever is the one that is working flawlessly on the gig I play.
but regarding sound it is the ones I own:
-pre-hiwatt sound city 200 custom built
-epifani ul-502
-gp lightstone twister tube pre with acoustic image focus sa or lender custom tube power amp.

Hm, Hamburg is not that far from Groningen. Can you suggest some places where a heavy rock band is welcome? Then I could try to arrange a gig (or two B) ) at your home town. Would be nice!
